This special set of rock tea oolongs (yan cha) is an excellent guide to what higher-end “zheng yan” yan cha should taste and smell like, without the higher-end price tag. You’ll find a bold and pronounced minerality in all 3 of these teas, which is to be expected given the special rocky soil they grow in. Each have flavors and scents of dark spices, such as cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, and nutmeg, with each type of tea having a slightly different balance of each. Whether you are new to drinking yan cha or fairly experienced, this offers a classic and uncompromising sampling of 3 of Wuyi’s most famous teas. I am partial to Rou Gui tea most of the time, but with this set, the Shui Xian really stood out with its bold clove scent. Highly recommended all around.

Wuyi Mountain Rock Tea • Shui Lian Dong Zheng Yan Rou Gui/“笑纳”水帘洞正岩肉桂

This tea has a very reddish brown liquor which is a testament to it's aged and quality. Chen Xiang taste with slight Ling Zhi medicinal aftertaste. The Cha Qi gently resolves stagnation in the body and relaxes the sinews/tendons and at the same time has this uprightness to it. One of the best aged shengs I've had.
