As time rolls on and the year draws to a close, looking back on the days we’ve spent together in 2025, the fragrance of tea at Tongxinshe Teahouse has always been filled with your profound love and support. We have forged countless friendships over a cup of tea, and shared numerous tea-tasting moments with you as our promise. As winter deepens, we would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to every tea lover who has walked alongside Tongxinshe.
Everything, once prefixed with "aged", is instantly transformed into a symbol of years and memories. Every time we see such an item and think of someone, a flood of emotions surges in our minds. This is the value of aged items: for those who have left the past behind, these memories become an irreplaceable sentiment; for those who have only heard legends about them, this admiration serves as a source of inspiration for envisioning their own future. Let us take stock of these aged treasures, reminisce and pay tribute to them together, and feel the nurturing touch of time upon them.
Tea, especially Pu’er tea, is just like these items – every passing moment translates into a mellow taste and profound connotations that settle and linger within it. It embodies the vitality of ancient tea trees, the history of traditional tea-making craftsmanship, and the rich aroma of well-aged tea. Today, Tongxinshe Teahouse is honored to share this taste that has been refined by time with every tea connoisseur and enthusiast.
What we bring to you is the 1999 Nannuo Mountain Ripe Pu’er Tea, a precious collection of our teahouse, crafted by the renowned tea-making master Ms. Du Qiongzhi from Menghai Tea Factory.
Born in 1960 in Manlao Village, Mengwang Township, Menghai County, Ms. Du Qiongzhi grew up in a Bulang ethnic village surrounded by tea trees. Her childhood immersed in the scent of tea kindled a lifelong bond with tea. After graduating from high school in 1978, she joined Menghai Tea Factory and worked successively in the black tea, green tea refining, and Pu’er tea workshops, as well as in the procurement and technical departments. During her more than 20 years at Menghai Tea Factory, she always humbly learned from her seniors, maintained great passion and a strong sense of responsibility for her work. Through continuous learning and accumulation, she grew from an ordinary worker to a technical backbone and middle-and senior-level manager in tea processing at Menghai Tea Factory.
Pu’er tea hails from the deep mountains of Yunnan, and Nannuo Mountain is one of its key producing areas. These remote mountains, while acting as a barrier that isolates the 12,000-mu ancient tea gardens here from the outside world, have also served as a protective shield that has allowed the local people and tea trees to thrive in peace for over 300 years. The ancient tea trees, which took root and sprouted in times gone by, have absorbed the nourishment of this land day after day, ultimately developing a unique flavor of their own: a rich mountain charm, an elegant floral and honey aroma, and a quick, long-lasting sweet aftertaste.
It was in the early spring of 1999 that the tea leaves were plucked by local farmers from the branches of ancient tea trees on Nannuo Mountain and sent to Ms. Du Qiongzhi at Menghai Tea Factory. After withering, fixing, rolling, sun-drying, and drying, the tea underwent a long period of storage – so long that it was almost forgotten. But time never fails to reward fine things. Eventually, tea lovers from distant Fujian traveled all the way through mountains and rivers to find this hidden treasure. Thus, after years of careful aging, the 1999 vintage Pu’er tea has emerged in a brand-new light.
This tea comes in an exquisite golden package, a rare and precious offering with limited availability. Sourced from the early spring harvest of 1999 on Nannuo Mountain, it uses tea leaves from the original mountains and trees, crafted in accordance with traditional methods, featuring uniform tea strips and plump tea quality. When brewed, it yields a dense, smooth liquor with a lingering mellow fragrance – a classic aged ripe Pu’er with a distinctive rice soup aroma. The tea from Nannuo Mountain strikes a perfect balance between gentleness and robustness, strength and depth, richness and smoothness, fermented with mountain spring water for an authentic, natural flavor. Having been stored for many years, this tea boasts an outstanding liquor texture, a solid lingering charm, and a long-lasting tea aroma that lingers in the throat, leaving a fragrant aftertaste on the lips and teeth – truly a tea worthy of slow appreciation. Its tea leaves remain soft, flexible, and well-organized even after years of aging, retaining vitality with clear veins, excellent steeping endurance, and a lingering, profound flavor.
Rather than saying we miss "aged items", it would be more accurate to say that we miss the earnest, resilient self we once were, the one that was most true to ourselves. Brew a cup of this tea aged over three decades. In its clear amber liquor and delightful fresh aroma, what you see and smell are all the precious memories and moments worth cherishing and savoring.
To express our gratitude for your company throughout 2025, Tongxinshe Teahouse will present each of you with a 5-gram sample pack of this 1999 Nannuo Mountain Ripe Pu’er Tea. May the mellow richness and warmth of this cup of aged tea chase away the winter chill and bring you a moment of peaceful tranquility.
In 2026, Tongxinshe Teahouse will continue to uphold our original aspiration, carefully selecting every fine tea from across China, fostering friendships over tea, and conveying our sincere emotions through tea.
