I am endlessly drawn to pieces that embody the oriental beauty of blank space, beautiful both for daily use and collection. Today, I am delighted to introduce these handcrafted Creamy White Gilded Bamboo Teacups from Jingdezhen, perfectly crafted for Gongfu tea tasting.
Every stroke of bamboo leaves captures the artisan’s inspiration in the moment, while every inch of porcelain bears witness to Jingdezhen’s millennia-old porcelain-making heritage.
The gilded rim is not a repair for damage; it represents an aesthetic dialogue across time.
The creamy lard-white glaze is luxuriant and silky, reminiscent of snow falling in Jiangnan during the Ming Dynasty. The upright bamboo branches and leaves hand-painted with pure gold pigment stretch elegantly in the wind, carrying the fresh breeze of today’s mountains.
The compact 15ml cup creates a miniature world, capable of holding the poetic charm of all Jiangnan.
When tea is poured into the cup, the pale white porcelain vividly showcases amber, golden and reddish-brown liquor hues, ideal for observing tea colour and appreciating flavour. The tapered shape locks in aroma excellently. It pairs wonderfully with rock tea, phoenix dancong, pu'er and black tea. Each small sip releases rich, lasting fragrance — an ideal tasting cup for any Gongfu tea table.
