The soul of Wuyi rock tea lies in its terroir. Among the Three Pits and Two Streams, Huiyuankeng is a time-honored core ravine cherished for its gentle, restrained character and pure old-bush charm. Surrounded by rolling mountains, crossed by gurgling streams, shrouded in perennial mist with soft sunlight, its unique microclimate and weathered rocky soil nurture old-bush tea plants carrying quiet mountain vitality and profound rock essence.
Tianjiao of Huiyuankeng is a rare, prime plot near Huiyuan Temple, a hidden premium zone deep within Huiyuankeng. Free from excessive human interference, tea bushes root in pristine native soil, absorbing mountain rain and mist year-round. The tea branches feature a high degree of lignification and abundant moss notes, growing in a serene and pure environment. Unlike ordinary Huiyuan Narcissus on the market, old bushes from Tianjiao deliver deeper old-bush flavour, thicker, creamier tea soup and subtle, sophisticated mountain character. With limited annual output, it is a top-tier terroir tea treasured by seasoned tea enthusiasts.
This old bush narcissus is a private collection of Tongxin She and one of my most cherished benchmark rock teas. Crafted under the full supervision of master tea artisan Wang Guoxing, every step follows extremely rigorous standards.
Hand-picked fresh leaves are sourced from ancient tea bushes in the Tianjiao core area of Huiyuankeng, carefully selected and expertly processed. Rejecting rushed mass-production methods, the tea undergoes three years of natural static ageing to dissipate the harshness of newly made tea and settle its innate mountain flavour. Afterwards, it is roasted six times with the traditional Wuyi multi-cycle charcoal roasting technique. Slow charcoal heat penetrates layer by layer to achieve full firing and lock in the aroma. Temperature and duration are precisely controlled in each roasting session, followed by repeated cooling, resting and aroma consolidation.
Dual refinement from multiple charcoal roasts and long-term ageing eliminates impurities and raw astringency. The tea aroma, old-bush charm and rock essence integrate deeply, yielding an increasingly mellow and gentle tea soup with outstanding brew resistance. It stands apart from mass-produced narcissus made with light roasting and hasty processing, revealing richer layers with every brew and gaining more value with storage.

The dry tea strips are dark brown, glossy, tight and heavy, carrying a steady woody old-bush fragrance. Once brewed, elegant orchid aroma unfolds alongside pure old-bush reed leaf scent and mild woody notes. The fragrance stays deep within the liquor instead of floating on top, clean and refined.
The tea liquor is bright orange-red, rich and full-bodied. Silky and dense on the palate, it has a natural viscous texture, sliding smoothly down the throat like warm rice soup. Thanks to full-fire craftsmanship, the liquor is mellow and solid with distinct rock character. There is no burnt harshness or astringency; it is soft on entry with rapid and lasting sweet aftertaste.
The first three brews showcase elegant orchid notes. From the middle brews onward, woody old-bush flavour takes the lead, accompanied by cool mountain moss undertones with strong mountain terroir expression. The later brews carry soft, sweet liquor with rock candy sweetness lingering in the throat, and the empty cup retains a long-lasting fragrance. The flavour profile boasts abundant layers and excellent balance, mellow yet not cloying, thick and soothing.
