Wuyi Rock Tea, born in Wuyi Mountain – a dual UNESCO World Heritage site of nature and culture in Fujian, China, stands unparalleled among China’s six major tea categories with its "rock bone and floral fragrance", and is the pinnacle of semi-fermented oolong tea. Its essence originates from "rock": tea trees take root between the Danxia sandstone cliffs along the Jiuqu Stream, absorbing minerals from rocks, mist, rain and dew to form their unique character of "pure fragrance, sweetness and vitality". Its soul lies in "craftsmanship": every step from fresh leaf picking, withering, leaf-tossing, fixing, rolling to roasting embodies centuries-old inherited ancient wisdom. In 2025, Tongxinshe Teahouse proudly presents a rare treasure – "Niulan Keng Qizhong" handcrafted by Master Wang Guoxing, one of the first inheritors of the national intangible cultural heritage "Wuyi Rock Tea (Dahongpao) Production Techniques". Each can, containing 8.3 grams of tea, bears Master Wang’s personal signature, integrating the spirit of the mountain and the soul of the craftsman into one can, creating an irreproducible collectible Rock Tea legend.

The rarity of Niulan Keng Qizhong begins with the innate gift of Wuyi’s core secret realm. As a top-tier mountain in the "Three Pits and Two Gullies" (the prime producing area of Wuyi Rock Tea), Niulan Keng is a narrow V-shaped valley with only dozens of mu of primitive tea gardens, resulting in extremely limited output. Those that can reach the level of intangible cultural heritage quality are even rarer than phoenix feathers and unicorn horns. Here, sunlight is short, humidity is high, and the Danxia soil is rich in minerals such as potassium and manganese. Dead branches and fallen leaves decompose naturally to nourish the soil layer, and tea trees grow slowly in a moss-covered ecological environment, accumulating a strong valley atmosphere and unique mineral sense. The name "Qizhong" (rare variety) comes from its naturally growing primitive characteristics – the unmanipulated variety traits blend with Niulan Keng’s unique microclimate, nurturing a complex aroma layer combining hundreds of floral fragrances, fruity flavors and woody notes. The taste is mellow and full, with quick and long-lasting sweetness and a cool, fluid throat rhyme. Its unique "rock bone" and wild charm are irreplaceable natural gifts and scarce values that ordinary mountain tea cannot replicate.

This rarity is made even more precious by the craftsman’s lifelong persistence and the exquisite portioning of 8.3 grams per can. Born and raised in Tianxin Village, Wuyi Mountain, Master Wang Guoxing’s family has grown and made tea for generations. Since he devoted himself to tea professional study in 1982, he has focused on Wuyi Rock Tea for more than 40 years with the original aspiration of "doing one thing well in a lifetime". He is a major custodian and producer of the mother trees of Dahongpao, and a firm defender of the core mountain areas. He has always advocated "ecological tea garden management", preserving the primitive environment where weeds and trees coexist to guard the most authentic "rock rhyme" soul of Rock Tea. On the road of inheritance, he respects tradition but is not confined by it, devoting all his efforts to the refinement of craftsmanship. From fresh leaf selection to every production process, he personally controls each step strictly, and even the 8.3-gram portion in each can is carefully measured to ensure that tea lovers can experience the most balanced and pure flavor of this rare tea.

Roasting is the soul of Wuyi Rock Tea and the core of Master Wang’s craftsmanship. He adheres to the ancient maxim of "roast tea according to the tea, observe the fire while roasting", knowing that each batch of fresh leaves has different temperaments and there is no fixed formula for fire control. With the keen perception honed over decades, he adjusts the temperature by the thickness of plant ash covering the charcoal fire, and accurately captures the subtle changes in the internal quality of tea leaves in the gradual temperature change from 80°C to 40°C – "change the roasting with the tea’s change, one breath of change adapts to all forms". This allows the energy of fire to blend deeply with the tea’s original flavor. This ancient craft turns fire into tea’s vitality, generating a rich and layered fragrance; into tea’s taste, creating a mellow and soft full texture; hides it in tea’s water, condensing a warm orange-red and transparent soup color; and finally achieves tea’s rhyme, bringing a profound, long-lasting and ever-changing rock rhyme sweetness, truly reaching the supreme state of "leaving endless aftertastes everywhere".

In 2025, Tongxinshe Teahouse is honored to present this rare good tea that combines the spirit of the mountain and the craftsman’s original aspiration to tea lovers. Each 8.3-gram can of Niulan Keng Qizhong is a crystallization of Master Wang Guoxing’s handcrafted efforts. The personal signature on the can is not only a vivid mark of intangible cultural heritage craftsmanship, but also an absolute guarantee of quality and rarity. The scarce tea products, with their exquisite 8.3-gram portioning, carry non-renewable core mountain resources, irreproducible handcraftsmanship and decades of accumulated craftsmanship. They are not only the ultimate enjoyment for daily drinking, but also cultural treasures worth collecting and passing down from generation to generation. We sincerely invite all tea lovers to attend this Rock Tea appointment, and taste the spirit of Wuyi’s mountains and rivers and the temperature of the craftsman inheriting intangible cultural heritage in a cup of fragrant tea.
