Amid the morning mist of the Wuyi Mountain tea gardens, the story of custom tea at Tongxin She Teahouse has always revolved around one core value: authenticity. In 2025, we once again joined hands with Mr. Wang Guoxing, the inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage – Wuyi Rock Tea craftsmanship, to create a special Huxiaoyan Rougui tailored especially for tea lovers who prefer rich, full-bodied flavors. We stay modest and down-to-earth throughout the process, offering visible care and reliable quality to every tea enthusiast.
Those who know rock tea well understand that the foundation of a fine tea lies in its growing region. The tea leaves for this custom Rougui are sourced from the core production area of Huxiaoyan in Wuyi Mountain. Huxiaoyan features steep cliffs and soil rich in weathered rock and minerals. With ample sunlight and year-round mountain breezes, the tea trees take root among rugged stones, their roots growing deep into the rock formations to absorb essential nutrients, forming a naturally bold and strong character. Unlike the delicate style of the “Three Pits and Two Streams,” Huxiaoyan Rougui carries an inherently rich, thick profile, with distinct cinnamon aroma and prominent rock rhyme – precisely the flavor favored by those who enjoy strong-tasting teas. We did not chase trendy growing regions; instead, we chose this ideal land for Rougui, preserving the pure essence of Wuyi rock tea without blending in leaves from other mountains or using exaggerated marketing.
Fine tea starts with fine fresh leaves. To ensure top-quality raw materials, the parent-child team from Tongxin She Teahouse stayed at the mountain throughout the entire picking season, personally overseeing every step. Each spring, our team arrives early at the gardens, working alongside local farmers. We strictly follow traditional standards, selecting only plump, tender leaves with one bud and two leaves, removing old, broken, or damaged ones. After picking, we carefully supervise transportation to avoid crushing and deliver the leaves to the initial processing workshop promptly to preserve freshness. From picking to preliminary withering, we oversee every detail patiently, prioritizing stability over speed. We believe tea leaves are living things, and only by treating them with care can we lay a solid foundation for the rest of the process.
The charm of traditional Wuyi rock tea lies in its elaborate craftsmanship. This 2025 Huxiaoyan Rougui is produced under the full supervision of Mr. Wang Guoxing, who brings over 40 years of experience and adheres to authentic traditional techniques. From leaf shaking to fixation, every step follows traditional rules with no shortcuts. The most critical part is the traditional charcoal roasting. Based on the unique characteristics of Huxiaoyan Rougui, Mr. Wang designed a three-time full charcoal roasting process: the first roasting shapes the leaves, locks in the aroma, and removes excess moisture; the second deepens the fragrance, fully bringing out the cinnamon notes and rock rhyme of Huxiaoyan; the third consolidates the body and richness, creating a full, intense flavor. Using traditional charcoal fire, he controls the temperature purely through experience, never rushing the process or using light roasting. Each round is perfectly timed to enhance the tea’s inner quality without damaging it. The final liquor is smooth, not bitter or astringent, with steady aroma and distinct rock rhyme, fully meeting the preferences of tea lovers who enjoy rich, bold flavors.
Freshly roasted rock tea carries strong fire energy, which can feel sharp if drunk immediately. To allow the fire nature and tea character to blend gently for the best tasting experience, we stored this Rougui in a constant-temperature environment for a full five months to mellow the fire. During this period, the tea matures slowly, the sharp fire fades, and the character becomes milder and smoother. After resting, the aroma softens, the texture grows creamier, and the sharp fire sensation disappears completely. The rich, thick broth unfolds in the mouth with layers of cinnamon, woody, and light floral and fruity scents. The aftertaste is quick and long-lasting, growing sweeter and more layered with each infusion.
This 2025 Huxiaoyan Rougui carries the combined dedication of Tongxin She and Mr. Wang Guoxing, from mountain selection and leaf picking to supervision and aging. To maintain consistent high quality, we have limited the total production to only 10 kilograms, available while stocks last with no further reproduction.
The tea is now officially available on our official website: www.txs-tea.com. We have prepared two sincere offers for tea friends: first, a limited number of 8.3-gram sample packs are available for free on a first-come, first-served basis, so you may experience the true character of this tea; second, every order for this tea will include a complimentary sample pack for immediate tasting.
At Tongxin She, we believe fine tea needs no fancy words or exaggerated promotions. Its quality shows in every carefully picked leaf, every precisely timed roast, and every patient month of aging.
