There has long been a saying in the tea world: "No fragrance is more intense than cinnamon, no mellow taste is richer than narcissus." Among them, old bush narcissus takes the "mellowness" of Wuyi rock tea to the extreme, becoming a treasure in the hearts of veteran tea lovers. Today, the Mantuo Peak Old Bush Narcissus brought by Tongxinshe Teahouse is a model of "mellowness" — with a tree age of over 80 years, it boasts a natural bush charm, a subtle fragrance, and a mellow soup, hiding a story of mountain terrain and time.
Mantuo Peak, also known as "Mantuoling", is located in the core production area of Wuyi Mountain's Zheng Yan. It sits on the top of the mountain to the right of Niulan Keng Pavilion and is one of the "Four Guardians" of Niulan Keng (Mantuo Peak, Jinjiaoyi, Tuguozhai, Beidou Peak). Because it is located at the top of Niulan Keng, it is also called the "Bull's Back" and is the only old bush narcissus growing on top of Niulan Keng.
The name of this tea garden has a deep origin. This place was originally the ancient house foundation of Mr. Chen's great-grandfather. Due to its long history, it was named after "age" (ling in Chinese), hence "Mantuoling". The tea gardens are scattered around the peak in a hierarchical manner with distinct layers. The area has short sunshine hours and a常年 suitable temperature. Moreover, there are trickling springs that moisten the tea trees all year round. The organic matter formed by the decay of dead leaves, moss and other plants enriches the soil, creating an excellent environment for the growth of tea trees. The tea world has long praised that "whoever gets Mantuo Peak gets the world", which fully shows the preciousness of its mountain terrain.
The origin of Mantuoling old bush hides a mark of history. It dates back to the period when production teams were divided into households. Although the specific planting years cannot be traced in detail, records about Mantuo Peak's tea gardens, factory names and planted varieties frequently appear in previous historical materials. Conservatively estimated, this old bush is at least 80 years old, worthy of the name "old bush narcissus". Every piece of tea leaves carries the thickness of time.
The aroma of this old bush narcissus is a condensation of mountain terrain and years. The woody bush fragrance, orchid fragrance and bamboo leaf fragrance interweave, which is rich and elegant, with a strong mountain field atmosphere. After 4 infusions, the lid fragrance becomes more delicate, sweet and moist, with a pleasant bamboo leaf fragrance; the cup-hanging fragrance is even richer, with a blend of rock milk fragrance, orchid fragrance and woody fragrance, showing distinct layers.
In terms of taste, it perfectly interprets the "mellowness" of old bush narcissus. The tea soup is mellow and smooth with a strong pectin feel, and it feels full as soon as it enters the mouth. The aftertaste is quick, the throat rhyme is long, and the mouth is filled with a strong and pure bush fragrance. After 4 infusions, the tea soup integrates orchid fragrance and woody fragrance, making the soup quality more mellow, delicate and full, with a stronger mountain terrain charm. Even after more than 10 infusions, the lingering fragrance remains, and its infusing endurance is amazing.
A cup of Mantuo Peak Old Bush Narcissus is the precipitation of 80 years of time and a gift from the Zheng Yan mountain terrain. The woody fragrance hides years, the orchid fragrance reveals elegance, and the mellow tea soup wraps the charm of the mountain terrain — this is the confidence behind "whoever gets Mantuo Peak gets the world" and the unique charm of old bush narcissus.
