Today, Tongxin She Teahouse proudly presents the naturally taro-scented aged Liubao Tea of 2006, a therapeutic vintage brew matured for nearly two decades.

 

Many tea lovers are fond of Liubao tea yet deterred by the storage odors, stray notes and earthy harshness of young batches.

This 2006 aged Liubao has long shed the greenness and roughness of fresh tea. Crafted with authentic dark tea techniques from Wuzhou, Guangxi, it has undergone nearly two decades of natural dry warehouse aging. No artificial flavorings, scented flower infusions or synthetic additives are used whatsoever.

Its rich ripe taro aroma forms purely from microbial transformation during pile fermentation and years of cellaring, a genuine flavor gifted by time—pure, clear, mild and unadulterated.

 

The dry tea leaves are dark brown, glossy and tightly twisted, carrying the poised bearing of well-aged vintage tea.

Once awakened by boiling water, a delicate, soft taro fragrance rises instantly, reminiscent of steamed taro and sweet glutinous sweet potato. The scent is subtle yet enduring, never overpowering or sharp. The tea liquor is deep red, translucent and lustrous, with a thick, velvety texture abundant in tea pectin that coats the tongue gently.

 

Zero astringency or unwanted off-notes greet the palate; the taro aroma fully integrates into the liquor rather than floating merely on top.

The first sip delivers soft glutinous taro sweetness intertwined with mild aged and honey notes. Mid-sip, the liquor flows silky smooth, with lingering sweet aftertaste gradually spreading across the throat. The later infusions grow increasingly fresh and glutinous, and the empty teacup retains the fragrance long after drinking, showcasing exquisite layered complexity.
