When you come to Tongxin She for tea, you’ll always want to add a few calming pieces to your tea setting. And that’s exactly what we’ve done—we’ve captured the misty rain of Jiangnan and the first snow of winter into this gongfu tea set. You may take the full set, or pick pieces individually, whichever suits you best.
Let’s start with this blue-and-white landscape gaiwan with a silver rim. Every time you hold it, the line comes to mind: “Beyond green hills lies the traveler’s road; before green waters sways a boat”. With just ten characters, distant mountains, a sailing boat, and the long river all appear before your eyes. We painted this scene on the gaiwan using the classic blue-and-white water-splitting technique: distant mountains in soft ink, nearby trees lush and gentle, wide blank spaces for the river, and a small boat that seems either about to depart or just moored. The composition is fresh and open, carrying the gentle, moist air of the Jiangnan water towns.
The rim is delicately lined with silver, which not only enhances its elegance but also protects the porcelain and makes it comfortable to hold. The shape is well-proportioned and steady in hand, with a perfect capacity of 90ml. With a gentle tilt of the gaiwan, it brings out the rich depth of Wuyi rock tea as well as the fresh crispness of new Longjing. Within this small vessel lies the gentle warmth of mountains and rivers in a cup.
Next is the sprinkled-blue snowscape landscape teacup. We are always looking for wares that can hold fleeting moments of beauty. The pure, serene charm of snow-covered landscapes lingers in our hearts, so we turned it into a daily teacup, adding artistic grace to your tea time.
Its base is made with sprinkled-blue glaze, resembling the evening sky in winter. Using the traditional technique of “leaving the ground as snow”, we created white snow on the glaze: snow-capped cliffs, snow-laden pine branches, and distant mountains outlined in light ink, forming a clear and peaceful winter landscape. The cup is round and delicate, with a diameter of 4cm, height of 3.9cm, and a full capacity of 25ml, fitting perfectly in one hand. Holding it gently feels like embracing the quiet delight of an entire winter.
Whether you wish to complete a poetic landscape-themed tea set or simply add a lovely surprise to your daily tea ritual, these pieces are ideal. Brew a fine pot of tea, gaze at the gentle boats and quiet mountains — this is truly the most comforting way to enjoy tea.
