Tongmuguan wild black tea in 2019
NEW Spring-picked 2019 Tea!
ORIGIN: Tongmuguan, Wuyishan, Fujian, China
DESCRIPTION: A special 2019 Spring-picked Tongmuguan Wild Black Tea just arrived at our teahouse. Wild Black Tea refers to the old tea trees growing in the Wuyishan National Reserve for over 100 years, with altitudes reaching as high as 1200 metres. Our special wild black tea was made in accordance to the specific processing technique of Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong Black Tea.
The fresh leaves are picked every year in April; it takes about an hour to reach the wild tea trees, as the wild black tea grows in the deep bamboo forests of Wuyishan, and picking the leaves themselves can be extremely difficult. To have the quintessential 'Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong' taste, the trunk and branches of the chosen tea trees must be covered with a particular green moss indeginous to the area. Due to its difficulty, only about 35 Jin (17.5 kg) a year can be procured in the whole production area. In fact, every year returning customers are reserving in advance for this tea.
This tea is also widely replicated in the Chinese tea market. In fact, many black teas are being sold as 'Tongmuguan wild black tea', event though the general output of this tea is very small. We are proud to say that our teahouse only sources authentic, high-quality Tongmuguan wild black tea from its true origin!
